Blood, Sweat, and Over Priced Water. Warped Tour 2010: Orlando, Florida

dark103angel Jul 26, 2010

So I hit up Warped Tour in St. Pete the friday before Orlando, and it was really nice because it rained ALL DAY! Now Orlando on the other hand, was extremely too hot. I was sweating like crazy just standing in the guest list line. The kids were so pumped though, but they started to fast, and burned out towards the end of the day, people passing out and jumping in the lake all day long. And not helping was the $4.50 for a bottle of water! Really? non the less the kids were crazy all day, and the bands definitely fed off their energy.

So I was very excited when I walked in and saw The Cab's stuff set up on main stage, I know these guys deserve it.

These guys gave off an amazing performance! I've seen these guys three times, and this was the best I have seen them by far, and they had a huge crowd. They played alot of old stuff and threw in a new song or two, since they had a longer set time, but regardless, it was a great performance. Frontman Alex even took the time to tell everyone how this has been his dream since he was 14. His stage presence was amazing, they were pumped for playing main stage. After that I went to catch Attack Attack! over on the Altec Lansing stage. I've missed AA! everytime they some to Florida, so I was pretty stoked!  These guys came out to an amazing intro into Smokahontas, tons of energy, and not to mention a huge crowd that could have been on the Main stage. They broke there set into two parts. Three new songs and the rest from there old album. These guys killed it, they were so good, and not to mention Caleb Shomo, who took over vocals is 18!? WHAT!? yea he was 15 when they got signed, crazy. But one thing I liked is last year Johnny used ALOT of autotune in his mic and it came out sounding bad, but this year he sang clean, and it sounded great. These guys were on my top 3 band performances of this years Warped Tour.  So i had alot of time to kill before any other bands played so I went around to merch, and I noticed 3OH!3 music playing from an orange truck and people dancing. Orange truck, music, im there! After walking over I noticed it was the Truth truck! How could I not? It's bright orange! Anyways it was really cool what there doing, They were promoting by getting kids to come over and dance along to win free merch and sign up on there mailing list, but at the same time, getting the word out about the dangers of tobacco, I thought it was REALLY cool!  NOTE: Truth bears no responsibility for content created by third parties So after buying a few over priced frozen lemonades and buying well over $150 in merch, it was time to go on over for the next band, Of Mice & Men.
These guys have been through alot with the bull crap with Austin Carlile and eveything, its great to see them back up and full force. They opened up with YDG!? and from there hit just about every song from there debut full length. These guys have so much energy, so for them being so young and there singer having back problems, there still jumping into the crowd, and going nuts on stage. If you get a change to ever see these guys, go, just there stage presents is enough to make the crowd go insane! And Jaxin, there bass player, owns a clothing line: Love Before Glory (LBG), and he designed a ton of shirts on Warped Tour for this year. Next band on the list was a band that I got into from last year's Warped Tour.
Breathe Carolina. These guys do not get enough respect for how talented they are. These guys come out ready to jump around and party with all there electro pop beats behind the screaming and clean vocals. They come out ready to go with Tripped and Fell Portland, and then quickly going into IM Not The Type Of Person To Take It Personally. Kyle is the one that wants to be in the crowd as much as possible, hes always jumping into the crowd whenever a free moment hits. Not to mention they also came out with a kick ass clothing line: Blush, which there selling all summer long Next in line was The Pretty Reckless, who requested no photography for the day, so I went off into the crowd to shoot, which wasnt easy, it was pretty packed!  Apparently the front woman is only 16, which is very impressive because she had an amazing voice. I didn't really stick around to listen much, but what I did hear, it was really impressive, but I didnt like the fact that they requested no photo. But they were still good. Next up, Florida natives Hey Monday These guys were great. Being the 4th time I've seen them, there always great. This year I told myself im taking time to check stuff out. First place I headed was the Keep A Breast booth. They had a huge tent with lots a great stuff. I bought a bracelet.  They had a huge water slide set up and I was very tempted to go jump, but I decided not not. I did take shade over by the monster truck after getting my FREE monster. F.R.E.E! It was awesome! I relaxed for a while, listening to Reel Big Fish, before heading over for a band I've wanted to see for a long time.
These guys were....were....INSANE! it was crazy, and the crowd, just wow, They come out to Diamonds Arent Forever, and keep the circles pits going throughout there whole set. These guys were crazy, and sounded great. Next up was one of my favorites, Never Shout Never. I finally got to meet Chris Drew, and got to see Caleb Dension, who I become friends with during the AP Tour.  The Only thing I Disliked about his set were the screaming fan girls who were going crazy over him. After just getting over a sickness with his vocal cords , his voice was a little choppy, but non the less sounded great! He's a very talented musician, and is great live! By now, most of the tents are beginning to close up, which means DEALS DEALS DEALS! Two shirts for $20, free posters, all the good stuff just for waiting, and some of the water and frozen vendors will start selling at normal prices, or even cheaper! Next band up, Suicide Silence.  I wasn't a fan of them untill I watched them on Friday, then they blew me away. The crowd was NOT into them at all, and they were pretty pissed about that, so they neglected the NO CUSSING RULE to get the crowd going, didn't work. The crowds were starting to reduce, and only a hand full of bands left to play. The Word Alive was next up. I had never seen these guys, and honestly was disappointed. I didnt like their sound as much as I did when Craig Mabbitt (Escape The Fate) was on lead vocals, but they were still ok. Very low crowd for them. Last but not least, hometown boys We The Kings took the stage with everyone in the crowd having there W's in the air.  these guys are always amazing, they took the stage with storm and closed the 2010 Vans Warped Tour in Orlando, Florida. So in a nutshell, my day was amazing. I got to meet alot of amazing people, spent over $200, learned a lot, and got to see my favorite bands! Warped Tour is something I look forward to all year, and it lived up to its expectations.  By the end, I was sunburnt, dirty, and wet with sweat. A band that I didnt shoot but saw was I Wrestled A Bear Once. Girl on screams, wow. They are different, but amazing! Alesana was very good too. Cannot wait until next year. One Things For Sure. Orlando, Florida was Hot, Sweaty, but FUN!

Austin Carlile (ex Attack Attack!) leaves Of Mice and Men, Trashes fans.

Austin Carlile, the former singer of Attack Attack!, has now left his new band, Of Mice and Men. Rumors have been circling around him leaving or being kicked out of the band for the past weeks, after he announced that he would not be on tour with Of Mice, due to heart surgery.

Austin Tweeted on April 3rd, 2010 "I Quit Of Mice And Men!"

Following that, he posted on his Tumblr a statement clearing things up. He writes,

"It came time to go on tour with Alesana, A Skylit Drive, and We Came As Romans, and I couldnt go out with them because I wanted and needed to get my heart fixed. It had been constantly hurting me, and also was like a cloud hanging over my head every day. I couldnt go a long period of time without worrying about it. It was simply driving me insane that I was walking around with a ticking time bomb inside of my chest, especially because 2 years previous, I had been told by my cardiologist in Ohio that I would need the surgery within 2 to 3 years."

He then posts about asking his girlfriend to marry him, which leads to this post,

"From that night on, none of the members would talk to me, and neither would Jaxin. The only person I have had the slightest contact with is Tino over the past month or so. I guess by making myself happy, I had ruined Jaxin and I’s relationship and he felt it right to ruin me by talking bad on me behind my back. If any of you have been to his twitter recently you can see him openly comparing me to Charles Manson, and even saying I have no talent and cannot scream. Calling me a fake, and arrogant. He is making it out to seem like I club baby seals or stole an ex girlfriend from him. All I did was get married. Before I announced it he and I were on perfect terms, and the band was doing just fine. I don’t think it calls for all of this"

"I started this band from nothing, and started it to have fun and do what I love. Im not going to let one persons spitefulness ruin that for me. Lies about my heart? I have proof on this page. And proof from years of my family dealing and knowing about it. I will have doctors notes, and medical stuff posted soon also. Surgery is in the near future for me, as well. So if you think Im getting kicked out of the band because of this/that, blah blah, he said, she said, sexist, racist…etc. No. I’m going no where, and I dont care if I have to find one, or three, or four new members, Of Mice & Men will continue on. Do I want new members? No. But I will do whatever I have to to keep the band iiii started alive. The band iii put my heart and soul into since I left Attack Attack. It was my hope, life, and dream. Even if I have to take them to court, then I will. I have made this my life, and I will not give it up without a fight.

“Oh you stayed home and faked a heart problem just to be with your hot wife…” …… Yeah right, that makes sense. I skipped out on the biggest tour OM&M has ever been on just so I could sit home alone 4 days a week while she works and be bored. Good call. Give me a break. Why would I lie to miss out on doing what I love most. Thats is ridiculous and so is this entire situation of name calling, personal hatred, and trying to ruin my name. Keep talking.

Following that news, Of Mice's Myspace page then removed the band picture featuring Carlile, and they posted a blog confirming that Jerry Roush (ex Sky Eats Airplanes), who had been filling in for Carlile while he was out, would take over as vocals for the band.

Now getting to the worst part of the story.

Apparently all the gossip that was spread throughout members of Of Mice, got to the fans, who posted it, EVERYWHERE. People, who were friends with Carlile, posted his number on Twitter, spread the hate on his twitter, blew up his phone, and now spread rumors (or the truth) throughout the music scene.

And adding to the fire, Attack Attack! couldnt help but get in on the fun, tweeting, "News flash! Austin Carlile is STILL a shit bag! Who knew?! For the record, we love all the other dudes in OM"

Austin responded by tweeting "Yes I saw that AA bashed me on Twitter & blog on Myspace. No big deal? You dont see me fretting? Always take everything w/ a grain of salt".

Attack Attack! also when and   on myspace what happened between then and Austin, and why they parted ways.

So you think that Austin is just being all calm about the situation? Wrong.

Austin has fought back, and viciously at that.

This is to one of my friends who spoke her version of what happened throughout Twitter, she was friends with Carlile.
And he didnt stop with that.

He then tweeted today by saying "Over the past 4 days of people s*** talking me, how can you not expect me to stand up for myself. Seriously I'm over this. Shut your mouth.".
This hurts me as much as it hurts many fans. I looked up to Austin Carlile ever since the day he was in Attack Attack!. He was my idol, but now with all this, its just better to stay out of the drama, then get into it.
This will blow over, but this might be the end of the road for Austin Carlile.

Bands of a different genre

dark103angel
dark103angel Feb 03, 2010

yea so im home sick and i just really wanted to talk about something thats been bothing me lately.

By now everyone knows of bands with different genres that you would reconize by the sound, but not by the name, such as "crunk core" or "electro-pop" , you know what im getting at, right?

If you still dont im getting at the bands that sing to beats pre-made. There live shows consist of nobody playing instuments, and if they are, they play keyboards and such. Bands such as Owl City, Breathe Carolina, Brokencyde, ect.

ANYWAYS! What is bothering me is the fact that people that are really in tact with the big punk seen or are "rockers" are bashing these bands, saying how there "ruining" the music industry just becuase they use auto-tune or they play keyboards and they have pre-made beats.

It pisses me off. The music world is changing. People are now listening to All Time Low and Never Shout Never and now the music world is shit? I mean go look at reviews for the upcoming Warped Tour and see what people [who are bashing] are saying about this years lineup. There all saying the same "WHATS UP WITH THIS YEARS LINEUP (besides BMTH) IT FUCKING SUCKS, GET THE PUSSY BANDS OUT HEAR AND PUT THE PUNK BACK IN WARPED TOUR!"

Do people know that Kevin [founder of warped tour] makes the lineup based on what people are listening to? Besides Warped Tour, do people understand that music changes, what people listen to changes. If im listening to All Time Low over The Devil Wears Prada that makes me the bad person?

Getting back to what i was saying, people say that these bands that arnt "Punk" or "Rock", are going no where, destroying the face of music, just pisses me off. You know so what if bands are playing with guitars or playing with synths? (I dont see anyone bitching about Owl City!)

I dont know. I thought that bands made music for fans and to make CD's.

If you look, it seems that punk bands that are pretty big, tour in Europe, and when they do tour in America, there playing big arena shows. Now look at these small bands that are destroying music (Even look at bands like Attack Attack! and The Devil Wears Prada), they tour all the time, and mostly in the U.S, in small clubs, meeting fans.

I dont know, i guess my look on music is different, but Thats my look on whats going on .

Just decided to to write about something.

Family Force 5 Release Video For "Dance Or Die"

dark103angel
dark103angel Jul 21, 2009

AP Tour alums Family Force 5 have finally let loose the video for "Dance Or Die," off last year's pretty dang great album of the same name. You can view it below.

 http://www.mtvu.com/video/?vid=406309

Watching the video, it isnt the best video i've seen from them. Theres lights and many dance moves throughout the video but it seems that it was put together to fast and not thought out. Now im not bashing FF5, I've listen to them for a couple of years and there music is great and there great guys but this video isnt anywhere near as good as there video for "Radiator".

The More The Hate, The More The Love?

dark103angel
dark103angel Jul 01, 2009

The more the hate, the more the love. When you think of terrible bands, what comes to mind? Well if you've been on Buzznet the past few weeks, its going to be Millionaires and Brokencyde, right? Better question is, when you hear about these bands, what comes to mind, get the point?

So, the hate has been spreading around like a virus, and the bad thing is, this just adds to there fame. If you've happened to check out Annie's new post about the people hanging around the Millionaires tent at warped tour and the huge line waiting for them. When i fist saw this, i didnt know what to think, i was just like "How in the HELL!?", but thinking back to my story on Brokencyde, and watching there interviews it finally came to me, our hate towards them, boosts the popularity. If your not convinced yet, go watch a Brokencyde or Millionaires interview and tell me what they say when they come to the question of hate. There gonna say it just gives them more popularity and makes more people want to see why there so bad.

The whole point of it is, the more we hate on them and write post after post on them, we are giving them the fame, they are getting popular off of the hates. My suggestion, just stop with the posts and the hate. Millionaires got so much attention at Warped becuase of the uproar off Pete Wentz signing them to Decay Dance.

and to clear up any confusion, im not doing this to get people off there back, i've seen why everyone hates them and i cant belive i didnt see it before.

Brokencyde. The Band Everyone (Doesnt) Need To Hate

dark103angel
dark103angel Jun 19, 2009

As you know, Brokencyde just came out with there first album, "Im Not A Fan, But The Kids Like It!" and as everyone knows, its been getting alot of low rateings, mainly due to the lack of respect this band gets. I remember when i first heard of BrokeNCYDE, it was at the Saints & Sinners tour with Hollywood Undead. J3T from Hollywood Undead told me that he thought that they were all a bunch of faggots that didnt deserve to be on this tour and he wanted them off, and it was only the second stop on the tour. After that I assumed they were dumb and i didnt think twice about walking right by them at the concert. It came time in the show that they were up, and i could leave seeing how i was in the front row. They came out and played there first song, Freaxxx, and i was blown away, not only was the song better that i had heard it through youtube, but the show itself was amazing. They had strobe lights, and other types of lights with about half a dozen smoke makers. The show was amazing.

Looks will fool you when first seeing the band. Going to there myspace days later to see what they looked like without the lights blocking off there image. They dont look like the band type, with highlights in there hair, red and yellow, and dressing in the way they do, you would get the idea these guys suck. There Genre, acording to them, is Crunk/Screamo/Electronic. Now someone hearing the genre name before listening to them would get the idea, these guys music sucks. They do exactly what there genre says, they mix raping with screamo while the electonics are in the microphones and backround.

I will say, i didnt like there first works, making screamo versions of LOW and PARTY LIKE A ROCKSTAR, but its what they did. There first EP they came out with was titled BC13. That was there early work put on an EP because they couldnt relese a full Album at the time. There songs are sexual, but in the Rap/Hiphop Genre, what song isnt? They were said to be one of the worst bands in the music world, just becuase of the way they looked and there type of music. They got alot of hate from bands they were touring with, bagging on them. Senses Fail lead singer Buddy, would take time out of his set to say how bad of a band Brokencyde was, when there were just backstage. They got alot of hate from there non-fans and other bands. They did many interviews after the Saints & Sinners tour to explain why they are so hated on. They are hated but they wanted to make a statement. They make music for fun, there not rich kids taking there money and touring and making songs as jokes, they are trying to bring something new to the table of music, by making a Genre that many people havent considered before. They also said that they dont do this for money, they do this for there fans, the Crunk Kids.

They know they dont get alot of fans at shows that they play first or headline at, mainly because of the hate that they've gotten, and most of the people that hate on them havent even heard there music. They promised that if you stop at there stage at warped and listen to there set, they will change there look on them, you will love the way they put on the show, interacting with the fans, and putting on a great show, dont be so quick to judge, give them a chance.

They relesed the full Album on June 16th, 2009 and it right away got hate writen all over it, with media giving it 1 1/2 stars, half of them admiting they didnt even listen to the CD, they gave there opinion through there past works or what they've heard some people say. A band just trying to make music for there fans and for fun, are getting shot down by people that havent even heard them before. There Album had a couple new songs but the other songs were past works, redone and are to some better that the original, but others say they added to much to them. They had some artists preform in some songs such as E-40 play in Booty Call.

There songs may not to some be the best but in the whole picture, there just a band trying to have fun and make music for there fans, the crunk kids. They might not be your type of music, but that doesnt mean that you can bag on them. Artical after artical have been writen about the worst musical act or why bands suck more than others. Thats stupid, if you hate them so much, why take time to write a artical about them? it makes no sense. Its like Brokencyde themselves say, " If you dont like us, dont listen to us. Your not being forced to write about us or to listen to our music and judge us, if you dont like us, dont watch or listen to us, let the kids who like us viset our myspace and buy our CD's".

In the big picture, thats what its all about, you dont like them, dont listen to them, dont write articals on how bad you think they are, just leave them alone, let them fail or get big on there own.
